The Power of God

The power of God isn't what you hear preached on most Sunday's from the pulpits around the world. God's power isn't so much about His ability to punish, His wrath, or ability to slap our hands with each mistake we make. That's the god of too many religious paradigms- not mine!



My God is a GOD OF LOVE!



I have developed this God over time. We have all created our own version of God you know- as has every denomination. That's why they're called a denomination. It's been a product of both intense study and personal experience. There's not one thing that I can say that's happened to me that's been bad and coming from God. I have a laundry list of GOOD NEWS and good things that my inner man and Spirit says has come from the Creator though.



I've never understood how Christians can say on the one hand that God is all-powerful (omnipotent is the word) and then say that He is helpless to bring about a transformation of our life. HIS WILL is subject to OUR WILL. I guess we mean to say He's nearly omnipotent.



Oh yes, and then we limit His power to this third dimensional world. His grace, power, and will ends at the grave. When we take our last breath it's over. If you've not said the sinner's prayer (those magical few words that are the password into a heavenly abode), you're IN baby! But of course it's just for a few which I don't believe.



God LOVES & SAVES ALL!



There is an UGLINESS of the graceless religion to which I ascribed for way too much of my life. I love people who try their best to be holy. What I don't love are the actions of those same people who want to put their guilt trip and new found doctrines on me, much less inform me that I'm going to hell if I don't agree with them. It seesm to me that those who are most into holiness and justice are the very ones who demonstrate the love of Jesus the least.



What's up with that?



The power of my God is eternal, extends beyond the grave, is rich in love and transformational in it's attachment to me. The heart of the message that Jesus delivered about abba Father was love, forgiveness, and the power to transform! No wonder the New Testament is called the GOOD NEWS! How has so much of the church missed that? Tell me, how has that happened?
