The Christian Holocaust?

And you thought the killing of more than six million Jews during World War II was bad? How many know what the word (holocaust) means? The Greek word holos means completely, and the word kaustos means burnt. There are few tragedies or modern memory that come close to this commentary on the evil of mankind. What did the German church do when Hitler was on ascendency? Nothing. But, worse yet, the churhc preaches a future Christian holocaust that will "completely burn" billions of people.



This is the GOOD NEWS?



I can't wait to hear what the BAD NEWS is! Is God really this wrathful? I commit a few years of venial sins that I've not repented of, or forgotten about, and I'm going to burn FOREVER? I'm to love this kind of a God? I'm to have an intimacy with this paradigm? Get real! We've camped too long at the temple paradigm.



The fire and brimstone preached throughout the fundmentalist churchs wherein billions of souls will be thrown into hell's furnaces (how many are there I wonder?) just doesn't match with the image of God that Jesus reveals to me. I cannot follow a malevolent Creator. Whay would want one to except to escape the furnace. Thankfully, I don't ahve to because Jesus tells me that His Father, who is my Father, and your Father, is totally benevolent and not malevolent.



There is no eternal damnation! Divine judgment? Yes.



How or why is it that we subscribe to the omnipotence of God from say Job 42:2 (God can do ALL things), and yet His power and LOVE cannot cause me to surrender- if not in this life, the totally spiritual one? We say that nothing is IMPOSSIBLE for God, except He can't redeem that which He created? What flaw was there in His plan that He over looked. Or is their a flaw other than our stinking thinking?



What happened to GRACE?



The church has too often made GRACE a reward for good behavior. But I say grace with good behavior is a GIFT with strings attached, which is not grace at all. I stand with James Mulholland who wrote, " Our attempts to manipulate, control, and limit grace have diminished its appeal. Fear and anger cause the rejection of grace far more than apathy and disdain."



Abba Father has put out the fires of hell, but the church and religion keep lighting the flames again. Don't go there! Accept the unconditional, incomprehensible, and unquestionable LOVE and GRACE of God that Jesus so aptly showed us. It's FREE. That is why it's called GRACE. May we love the ONE that we ARE! Do you know WHO you ARE? When you do, there will be a PEACE come upon you that does pass all understanding.
