When you will be going to doctor to make adjustments in your lap band by making fills, you will be asked to stand in front of the very large x-ray machine. You will take a small sip of barium so the doctor and you can see how liquids are flowing through your lap band. You will see the liquid coming down your esophagus and fill your pouch. This arches your back somewhat so your port raises it becomes easier to locate the port. Once the port is located the doctor will use a syringe and stick the needle into the port.
